WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE—
When firefighters in New York arrived at the Twin Towers on 9/11, they were prepared to climb several flights of stairs knowing they faced grave danger. On Sunday, Wisconsin firefighters took steps to honor fallen firefighters during the 9/11 memorial stair climb held in Milwaukee.
Firefighters from all across the state made their way up the stairs of the US Bank building in downtown Milwaukee. They climbed to the 23rd floor three times. Then, the fourth time, they climbed to the 41st floor.
It's their way to remember firefighters who were not able to finish climbing the stairs at the Twin Towers while trying to rescue people during the September 11th attacks.
