The reason for the slow downloads is the firewall that is enabled on your router. This is by default. You can go into the web interface and open those port for faster downloads. This page on the blizzar site can walk you thru opening the port to get the faster speeds.

http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=aww01199p

Most routers and key ports to open are listed for faster downloads.

The Key ports to open are:

3724 and
6112

They also advise opening these ports:

6881 thru 6999

*Yes thats means all the ports between.

To configure this you must first set a static IP to your computer. This enables the port to be forwarded somewhere, i.e. your static address (non-changing IP address). Most computers come with DHCP enable which means your computer gets a new ip address each time it is restarted. (Dynamic IP address - Always changing).

To set your computer to a static IP address open the properties of Network Places. Within Network Places properties, right click on your network connection and select properties again. Within those properties select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the properties button. For DHCP users Obtain an IP address automatically option will be selected. You will want to select the next option down Use the following IP Address. Here is where you will insert your new IP address. Most routers by default will start on the IP block 192.168.0.X where X is 1 thru 255. Also most routes come with the static IP of 192.168.0.1. So do not use this one for your computer. You can use anything above 1 for the most part. But also do not use 255, use any between 2 and 254 for your computer's static IP address.

Next is your Subnet mask which should be set to 255.255.255.0

Next is your Default gateway which should be set to 192.168.0.1. You may notice this is the same addres as your router. If you have changed your router's IP address set it to the correct one.

Finally is your DNS server settings.

Under Use the Following DNS server addresses. Enter 192.168.0.1 for the address. Yes this is also the same as your default gateway. Again if you have changed the address of you route input the address you have changed it to.

Click OK. Click Ok again.

You may need to reboot. If you reboot and cannot get online reset the computer back to the orginal TCP/IP settings. i.e. set back to:

Obtain an IP address automatically and
Obtain DNS server address autobatically.

You can find out how to get back to those settings in the beginning of the doc.

Once you have set a static IP address you can now configure your router's port to enable faster downloads and better gaming performance. Again here is the link to enable the ports within your router.

Hope this helps... if there are any further questions just post here or pm me.
