Teniela,
To clarify, A warrior in defensive stance generates "hate" through both abilities and damage. Priests generate hate only through healing and damage. Aside from Mind Blast, the priest has no abilities that cause additional Hate; while warriors have many.
If a priest is outside of melee range, he must create 130% of the tank's hate to pull aggro from the mob. Once this occurs, Fade functions as a sort of anti-taunt. It temporarily lowers your hate for the duration of the Fade. In that amount of time, if the tank (or anyone else, for that matter) cannot generate enough hate to put you below that 130%, you will once again gain aggro.
If you're inside melee range for some reason, you need only generate 110% of the tank's hate to pull aggro. Try to avoid this if possible.
The equasion seems to be 2HP healed = 1 damage dealt in terms of hate generation. I hope this helps.
