I rethought my definition of skill today after the Afic/Zagromaki duels. Most players think skill is being able to duel someone and beat them. But when you duel you pretty much run though the same sequence of buttons pushing over and over again. I know when i duel casters its just manaburn manaburn manaburn.... melee is fear, DoT, nuke away... i hit the same 3 buttons over and over again. Whether i win or lose, a trained monkey could do that.

The only time i've used my experience (because i hesitate to use the word skill) is in group PvP when i've had to use all my abilities... DoT's for rogues HoT's for pally's shields for mages non stop dispells, fearing clumps of horde... the list goes on and on and the timing for each spell changes.

Thats why it pisses me off when horde ask /yell 1 \/ 1 because it shows all they've mastered is a button pushing sequence like some street fighter 2 move. Once you've mastered the button pushing sequence for your class which takes maybe a week of solid dueling, then it all boils down to talent builds and equips. Skill in PvP won't be seen until battlegrounds where an objective winner can be chosen.

I agree completely with Parish, any idiot can 1v1 to a certain point before it becomes button mashing. True PvP will be seen in Battlegrounds where every player will have to use a strategy to take the objective while still dominating in PvP. A strategy which will change nearly every single time. Battlegrounds FTW.

Though Zagromaki can win rogue 1v1 duels, his skills in the other 99% of the game are non existant...

His abilty to form sentences out of words leaves much to be desired as well. All in all I kinda feel bad for him. Everyone take a good look since this type of hypercompetative illiterate moron we'll be facing in battlegrounds. Best way to beat them is to learn counters to their cheesy tactics and make them take long graveyard walks so they lose patience and ultimately make mistakes.

hahaha, ya, i think hes one of the people I dueled and lost to mostly because my build is based on getting the first attack, which is what should happen with a rogue. He however is speced through the combat tree meaning, which is probably the least powerful spec a rogue can have, but it will do very well in rogue 1v1 without stealth. Glad to hear that he actually does suck, cause I had a feeling he did.

I think there's also a third factor to skill, and that is teamwork. Knowing how to cooperate with others is the key to PVP as well as PVE. No matter how good you are, you can not win any battleground or beat any boss solo.
