I'm using a PC, so far I've tried a few trial versions of DVD to Ipod software and so far I've found to work the best. is nice if you just want to convert video files to fit on your ipod.

It's $35 for the cucusoft one and a video to ipod converter program or $30 for just the dvd software. The free one works good too but you have to make sure you install a bunch of codecs for it to work consistently. I ripped two movies with the cucusoft program and they both came out great, no skipping and the audio track was perfectly matched. It's also extremely easy to use and rips the dvd just as fast if not faster than any other program I tried.
