Thats crazy. You're crazy.
I've never played GoW2 so I can't comment on how they compare.
But I can say why L4D is amazing.
Atmosphere. Level design is brilliant and extremely detailed. Safe houses with messages to other survivors trying to meet up. Talk about the infection, etc. Brilliantly done. Zombie graphics. The zombies are tailored to location, and use character customization to make them all look unique. You are in the hospital, there are zombie nurses, doctors, patients(in the dresses with their asses hanging out. lol) And they all have differant faces. The 4 characters themselves have personality. They talk to each other. Some of the dialogue is hilarious.
4 player co-op tactical game. Its counterstrike with zombies. The game is straight up made to require teammates to win. Anyone single uber zombie can take out a single survivor with ease. You HAVE to rely on your teammates to work as a team to win. Friendly fire is always on, and hurts alot on advanced/expert, as it should be played. You get tackled, and bad teammates are more likely to kill you, by shooting off zombies and you, instead of meleeing them off. 8 player VS. 4 zombies, 4 survivors and a zombie horde. did you play vs? How can you not be sold on this after playing a tank personally?
destructible environments. Not 100%, be a good amount. A tank can take out a whole lot of walls, cars, etc. A survivor can shut/lock doors, and fire holes in them to shoot zombies through them.
Director. The AI works pretty well. It changes gameplay based on your play. Stand in one spot too long, and more hordes will spawn, uber zombies will set up traps to catch you. Play through and get to the end only to have victory stolen away as the helicopter lands by a bad boss spawn happens so many times. This game is not just a mindless zerg spawn of zombies. Its a tactical game. And its brilliant.
4scenarios with 5 maps each. Its more like 20. And they are all pretty large.
I'll admit the first thought is, how long will this last? But after playing the same maps over and over, its not getting boring. Especially in VS. To quote Zoey, quoting Hicks, "Its game over man, Game over"
